Amapola Bar & Steakhouse

Only about 12 minutes from the Thong Lor BTS station, this former residence has been recreated to reflect a tropical-style atmosphere with pool bar and garden bar. Seating is offered al fresco or indoors. There are 2 private dining rooms as well as seating up to 10 people overlooking the pool and deck. Amapola means a South American flower and also a very famous old-fashion song in Cuba. What significance this has with the restaurant and its cuisine is anybodys guess, except for the fact, Cuban music is played in the background.

The menu begins with about a dozen starters that include tortilla chips & salsa and spicy chicken wings that were not really up to par with the rest of the menu so we moved on to the soups and salads and the stand out item is the Smoked Salmon Salad with fresh salmon atop a small mixed salad. The main attraction is, of course, the Kobe Beef steaks which are all served only as sirloin cuts. Each are served in a set with soup, green salad, the steak (which comes in about 6 varieties each 100g to 250g), rice and dessert with most dishes including appetizers. There are also a couple Australian steaks, a lamb chop and a couple seafood selections along with about six optional side dishes.
